Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the various items as of 04/06/2017?

The 2.0 were first made out of Cotton 95% and Elastane 5% with i.5 inch legs on the inseam and fabric covered waist band. The pouch is good and solid.

The 3.0 were the improved version made out of 95% Modal and 5% elastane along with a new geometric design on the waistband. The pouch has been improved in that there is no overlapping on the pouch seam and the legs are 3.5 inches.
The 3.21 are a marriage between the 2.0 and 4.0 in that they are made out of 95% modal 5% Elastane with the 3.5 inch legs but have the fabric covered waist band like the 2.0 and includes that addition of a fly and the AMAZING Dual Pouch.

The 4.0 are different from the 2.0 and 3.0 in that they have a urination fly as well as a dual pouch system in place. The Dual Pouch that not only isolates the male anatomy from the inner thighs but also has the capability to isolate the penis from the balls in the event of a very hot and sticky situation.

Primarily, the difference between the 3.21 and 4.0 is the waist band. The fabric and cut of the body of the garment is exactly the same otherwise. They both have the dual pouch and same leg length.

The CAMO are basically the 3.21 but without the Dual Pouch and they are made out of a different fabric - 94% Polyester 6% spandex. They are extremely comfy and the pouch has been improved a bit more in that it is deeper and has an elastic band in seam of the pouch to improve the hold.
I would suggest the 4.0 and 3.21 as the best available options personally. The 2.0 are really good but could be better and the 3.0 are our most popular product but don't have the Fly option.
The CAMO should be for cooler environments or Winter Months.

Who is the ideal customer for this garment?

These underwear are designed for anyone to provide the ultimate comfort, however our target audience and primary customers are men with above average sized testicles (which I Bobby Patton have), Literally and Metaphorically

What is the pouch for?

The pouch is designed to isolate the male package from the inner thigh region, thus preventing sticking, smashing, and chaffage.

When was SHEATH Invented?

It was 2008 in the midst of the Iraq war when an Army Sergeant Robert Patton serving his second tour in the desert had a vision for a new design of underwear that would eliminate future irritation resulting from the sticking of balls to the inner thigh under extreme circumstances such as in a war zone. Turns out they also work in less extreme conditions as well. After he had the idea and had some garments made for himself, years passed that included an honorable discharge from the Army, followed by over a year working with a professional tailor from Vietnam, and then in 2013, SHEATH launched a successful Kickstarter which crowdfunded the current SHEATH 2.0 version available for sale on this site. There was a great deal of effort being taken in perfecting the design.

Why was SHEATH Invented?

Initially the creation was made simply to serve the purpose of fixing my own personal comfort until it was highly encouraged that the idea be converted from a personal invention into an actual product on the Market.

Where are they made?

SHEATH Underwear are currently made in Zhongshan, a highly technical area of China best known historically for their role in the first Opium War (don't worry, they lost and are clean off the dope). The area later turned into the Qing Dynasty. It is near a rural area that is known for rice and other agriculture where nearby they have this state of the art production facility for garments where SHEATH as well as Sly, and other underwear brands are made. The workers rotate in and out from the factory to the farm and they do a fantastic job. They enjoy their roots of share cropping and are very professional and meticulous in all of their work. From what we can tell their society is improving from world trade. Their people seem to be extremely well taken care of with over a month off annually from any work in February, for celebration of the Chinese new year.
